Photo Review: 77093 Ocarina of Time

Our mod Edgy_Mando did a review from a photographic perspective of the Legend of Zelda set 77093 Ocarina of Time – The Final Battle and this are his thoughts!

Thanks to LEGO and BrickCentral for the opportunity to create a photo review of LEGO 77093 The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time – The Final Battle set, which immediately turned out to be perfect material for photography and storytelling – not only as a traditional display set, but also as a base for creating own scenes and interpretations.

The build

At first, I didn’t expect this set to be as photogenic as it turned out to be. It’s a display-style set that presents a pre-built scene, which often suggests limited creative photography potential. In reality, it’s quite the opposite.

The set offers strong storytelling potential – both for individual shots and full narrative sequences. The tower and ruined structures work perfectly as a main scene or background elements. Another big advantage is modularity – several parts can be detached from the base and rearranged freely, which allows for much more flexible scene composition.

Ganon

One of the strongest elements of the set is the buildable Ganon. It’s not just an impressive figure, but also a model that, despite its pose limitations, offers plenty of photographic potential. It works extremely well as the central focus of the scene and as a “final boss” presence in action shots. With the right lighting and camera angle, it can easily be turned into a very dynamic and intimidating character.

Minifigures

The set includes three highly detailed minifigures that are visually impressive and faithful to the game – they feel like they were taken straight from The Legend of Zelda world. Each character comes with an alternative facial expression, which significantly increases their usefulness in narrative photography. A special mention goes to Link’s accessories – the sword and shield are very well designed and work great in photographic compositions, strongly emphasizing the character’s presence within the frame.

Photography and storytelling

While the set already represents an iconic scene from the game, I decided to approach it in a more interpretative way. I built a dark, atmospheric environment using dark rocks and gravel. In the background, I used black fabric to simulate rocky cliffs, adding texture and depth to the compositions. The vibrant colors of the characters stand out strongly against this dark setup, naturally creating contrast and drawing attention to the minifigures.

For lighting, I mainly used neutral light supported by RGB LED sources. Blue light helped establish a dark, night-like atmosphere, while orange light emphasized fiery elements and created the impression of light spreading through the scene. Since the set represents a final battle, I focused on dynamic compositions. The minifigures were posed in combat stances, allowing me to build a short narrative sequence – from the journey, through the boss fight and transformation, to the final victory of the hero.

Summary

LEGO 77093 The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time – The Final Battle is a set that goes beyond a typical display model. While it may seem limited at first glance, in practice it offers a wide range of possibilities for photography and storytelling. It works equally well as a static display piece and as a foundation for creative LEGO photography. Its biggest strengths are undoubtedly the minifigures and the build of Ganon, which give the entire scene strong character and a powerful focal point.
