LEGO came out with another Disney theme set this month of October. My childhood memories flooded in when I saw Gepetto and Mickey Mouse from Fantasia and those magical brooms!

Lilo

Lilo is one of my favorites here because of the alternate face and the hair! I love that there seems to be motion! Her minifigure is attached to what looks like a wave behind Simba’s and is elevated! Plus that flower is the perfect touch!

Young Simba

Here we have young Simba looking so majestic on Pride Rock! So adorbs! The Pride Rock can be moved a little bit and has a lot of character despite it being a tiny build!

Gepetto

Ah and here we have our wood carver that gave life to our loved Pinocchio. Gepetto is on a mission to find Pinocchio! I love the little raft build here too, it is attached behind Mickey on top of the waves. The tiles are wood printed.

Sebastian and Flounder

And here comes our adorable duo who’s always supporting their bestie! But here they are on their own. I wonder what they are up to? Isn’t flounder super cute?? Those cheeks!

Bruno

We don’t talk about Bruno no no no. But actually we want to talk about Bruno and his little mouse! Bruno also have an alternate face where his eyes are green and in a trance. Another gorgeous tiny build! I wanted to capture the magic of the house itself and insert some of the sand from the song from Encanto!

Belle

Alas! We have our princess who loves her books and her Beast! Belle in her classic yellow Ball gown together with the Enchanted Rose and that transparent rose-printed piece are the takeaways for me. This print is gorgeous! Her hair is also perfect! It is truly a Tale as old as time.

Mickey Mouse in Fantasia together with the Magical Broom

Disney “Fantasia” is one of the most iconic movies I watched growing up. It taught me to face the unknown and to believe in myself. Magic is all around us and is within us. Mickey here is the center of the piece and is the biggest! I love his hat! The fingers are posable.

Summary

I enjoyed building this and love that everything is “stand alone” meaning they can be displayed and played with on their own. This set is perfect for children and adults and gives off a warm feeling of “Ohana”. This set for me is a mix of Brickheadz, minifigures, and small builds. I didn’t have problems taking photos cuz it’s easy to rebuild. Story wise though, I struggled a bit to create a story of them being together since there’s already a story behind each of them.

Behind the Scenes

For the waves, I used xantham gum mixed with water and green and blue food coloring. I placed it on a shipping bubble plastic that I’m reusing. I scrunched it up a little bit to make an illusion of waves from behind. For the rainbow, I used a shoe box with a metallic print, shone the light, and adjusted it to my preference.

For the underwater scene. I used the same plexi glass and slime set up and added sand, wood used for terrariums or aquariums, and plastic seaweeds. I used a flash with blue filter to make it seem like it’s underwater. I also used wires to prop up flounder and edited it out in Photoshop.
