Artist spotlight: legomanin

Every month, we pick a LEGO photographer active in our community and share some of their work and a little about themselves. This month we flight to Austria to meet legomanin!

Hello, my name is Sandra (or legomanin on Instagram), I’m from Austria and I’m a teacher of accounting and business administration and a qualified herbalist.

One of my hobbies is photography and since the corona pandemic, I’ve been passionate about LEGO photography. And Brickcentral has been a great community and source of inspiration for me since my first photos on Instagram.

My favorite thing to do is photograph minifigures and I try to breathe life into the little men. I like it when they look human and convey emotions or make people laugh.

I usually use a NIKON D7500 with the SIGMA 105 Macro lens for my pictures. In order to present the minifigures well, it is important to have a realistic background.

I either use larger sets or I take my pictures outside. I particularly enjoy taking pictures in or near water or in the beautiful natural surroundings of Tyrol.

I only use Photoshop in exceptional cases, but I develop all my pictures with Lightroom. To avoid reflections, I use several reflectors and diffusers.

I also usually use different light sources and sometimes artificial fog to create the most authentic atmosphere possible.

The exclusive photo

The exclusive photo I took for Brickcentral is meant to represent me.

I combined two minifigures from the new minifigure series 27: I love cats, funny sweaters and wool (I also love to crochet).

In the background is the Friends Apartment, one of my favorite sets for indoor pictures as it is very versatile. The light shining through the window from behind is intended to create a warm atmosphere. The minifigure is also illuminated from the front.

The diffuser prevents unsightly reflections.

Thanks to Brickcentral for the opportunity to present me and my pictures!
